TUESDAY TOPICS SEPTEMBER: Scott Fowler - What is going on with Charlotte Sports

Scott Fowler is a national award-winning sports columnist for The Charlotte Observer. He grew up in Spartanburg, S.C., graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1987 and worked at two other newspapers before beginning work for The Charlotte Observer in 1994. He originally covered the Carolina Panthers for The Observer before being promoted to sports columnist after Ron Green Sr. retired in 1999.

Scott and his wife have four children -- ranging in age from 12 to 22. The oldest is a senior at UNC-Chapel Hill and the second one is a freshman at Appalachian State. Scott and his family live in Denver, N.C., where he also coaches youth soccer and tennis and is an active member of his church. Scott has written or co-written eight books and also was the host of a podcast called "Carruth," which was about the aftermath of former Panther Rae Carruth's crime and the people it left behind. That show was named Sports Illustrated's "Podcast of the Year" in 2018.

Please join your friends from the Business Leaders of Charlotte on the third Tuesday of every month minus December and a short summer hiatus. You will enjoy local leaders of the Charlotte community and have the opportunity to ask direct questions. Past speakers have included Peter Gorman, Anthony Foxx, Jennifer Roberts, Chief Monroe, Chief Putney, Sue Myrick, Danny Morrison, and Sheriff Carmichael.
